Access

For those visiting us from out of town, you will be able to see all groups by going to the free stages at Motomachi Park. The Showpiece Gala at the City Concert Hall also features all international artists.

Motomachi Koen Park

12 Motomachi, Hakodate-shi, Hokkaido
In the western finger of town, at the base of the picturesque Old Hakodate Hall sits the open air Motomachi Park. Standing here, the sounds of chiming church bells and the whistles from the ferry port evoke the spirit of Hakodate. In the shadow of Hakodate Mountain, with the port and the city extending before you, please enjoy our "Free Stage" performances, a centrepiece of WMDF.

Hakodate Community Design Center ("Machi-Tsukuri Center")

4-19 Suehiro-cho, Hakodate-shi, Hokkaido
Located in the renovated shell of the former Marui Imai department store, this center was opened in 2007 to support community development and promote tourism. The WMDF Festival Office is located here, and the center also hosts the WMDF Experience! workshops. If you have a chance, please admire its nostalgic night illumination.

Goryokaku Tower

43-9 Goryokaku-cho, Hakodate-shi, Hokkaido
Goryokaku Tower is well-known as a symbol of the city of Hakodate. The old 60m tower was dismantled in 2006, and reborn 107m high. The atrium is one of the main sites for the WMDF Fringe events. During the WMDF festival period Sponsor Pass Holders can enter the tower at a discounted group rate. We hope you can use this opportunity to find a new perspective on Hakodate.

City Concert Hall ("shimin kaikan")

1-32-1 Yunokawa-cho, Hakodate-shi, Hokkaido
This 1,500 seater hall was designed to serve multiple functions as a meeting place and a focal point for the cultural life of Hakodate. It has staged classical, pop, and a wide range of popular events. It is the venue for WMDF's Showpiece Gala, which brings a "Big Here" of world music and culture.
